The Ancient Necromium Weapons of War
I
n the first age of man the heroes of the world spread out across the
world seeking ore containing within traces of pure Necromium. Such ore was
rare and considered of great value. Wars were waged and hundreds died over
single pieces of such ore. Often pieces of the ore were found and coveted
by unsuspecting beings who knew nothing of what the ore was or its powers.
But the human heroes knew well the ore's powers and any being found in
posession of the ore was in mortal danger if discovered.
The lust for the ore came from the trade of the legendary blacksmith
Quartzle. With but a single piece of the ore the smith could fashion a
weapon powerful beyond even the greatest of mortal forged blades. These
weapons often were graced with names and some were even said to take on a
life of their own. Only the greatest of heroes had these weapons, inspiring
fear and envy from their peers.
When the anger of the gods rained down on the world at the end of the
second age these legendary weapons were destroyed. Since that time the
lands seem barren of pure necromium ore, with the energies of the great
cataclysm transforming much of the undiscovered necromium ore into its
crystalline form. Soon after the art of making the great weapons was
forgotten and Quartzle's forge grew quiet.
